Fractional Laser Resurfacing & IPL Laser Treatments
Fractional Laser Treatments
The Emerge provides Fractional, non-ablative skin revitalisation with little to no downtime. It is specifically designed for the treatment of mild to moderate wrinkles and pigmented lesions. The Emerge features diode laser technology using the principles of fractional photothermolysis. Pulses are delivered as an array of micro beams to create columns of coagulation in the epidermis and dermis while leaving the surrounding tissue unaffected. The body’s natural healing process then rebuilds the treated tissue with new collagen and elastin, which are the building blocks of youthful looking skin.
It is important that your skin is well prepared prior to an Emerge Fractional Treatment with the use of medical grade skincare. This involves a prescribed cleanser, topical antioxidants like Vitamin B and C serums, hyaluronic acid and safe hyaluronic acid based moisturisers. You must conscientiously wear good quality micronised zinc/titanium based sun blocks and ONLY use medical grade mineral makeup. We have a range of medical grade skin care products and makeup that we recommend our patients use before and after their treatment. Failure to follow pre and post care may result in treatment complications, so be sure to disclose your skincare program properly with your treating Aesthetician.
The EMERGE™ works on most skin types and can refresh the skins appearance as well as eliminate the deeper wrinkles, improve the most challenging scars and help correct a wide variety of other skin imperfections. Your Aesthetician will discuss the EMERGE™ treatment options with you. The EMERGE™ Fractional Laser is from the company that invented and patented micro-fractional laser technology.
Most EMERGE™ treatments last no more than an hour. Depending on the skin condition being treated, your Aesthetician may recommend a single treatment session or a series of progressive treatments for the best result.
Following some EMERGE™ treatments you may resume your regular activities on the same day; more aggressive procedures may require several days of healing. Ask your Aesthetician what you can expect from your treatment. Always follow your pre and post care instructions extremely carefully. Most people feel minimal discomfort during and after treatment. In some cases, your Aesthetician may recommend mild pain management options during the procedure and/or for a few days following the treatment. You can expect to experience a temporary redness, warmth and swelling at the treatment site, which typically lasts only a few days. In other cases, some post-care wound management may be necessary for a few days following treatment. Your Aesthetician will discuss the potential side effects and your post-treatment expectations with you.

M22 IPL Hair Removal Treatments
Before any IPL Laser treatment it is recommended that you first attend a short consultation where a test patch (2-3 pulses) is performed on a small section of the area you wish to have treated. If you are travelling and are short on time you may be able to have your test patch and treatment on the same day. You must have worn sunscreen on the area being treated 2 weeks prior to your appointment on the area you wish to have treated.
IPL hair removal works best on the hairs that are in their active growth phase. In order to reduce the amount of hair growth, multiple treatment sessions are required to capture more hair follicles in their growth phase. At The Skin Corrective Centre we recommend six to eight sessions at 4–6 weekly intervals in order to achieve up to 80% hair reduction.
Although IPL hair removal is able to permanently remove existing hairs, this does not prevent the growth of new hair over time. Therefore, we recommend periodic re-treatment every few years, even after the initial set of sessions. Most people are able to have IPL hair removal.
Unsuitable candidates include those who are currently pregnant breastfeeding or have a current spray tan or sunburn present, patients prone to skin discolouration or keloid scarring, and patients who want grey, white, red, or very fine hairs removed. Patients who have recently taken Roaccutane for acne, need to wait at least six months after finishing their course of treatment to commence IPL hair removal. You must cease any light sensitive medication 2-4 weeks prior to your treatment.
Hair should not be plucked or waxed at least six weeks before treatment. The principle behind this is to leave the follicle of the hair intact. Plucking/waxing will remove the follicle, whereas shaving will not. You will need to shave the area to be treated the day before or the morning of the procedure. Do not tan the area to be treated. Use sunscreen daily on the areas to be treated and avoid solariums, direct sun exposure, and spray tans. Do not apply cosmetics or creams to the treatment area on the day of treatment. If you have a history of cold sores and you are planning to have your upper lip hairs or chin hairs treated you will need to inform your treating physician so that you can be put on appropriate anti-viral therapy beforehand. If you are having IPL hair removal on the face you will need to be using medical grade skincare to ensure your skin does not burn or pigment pre and post treatment.
Generally, there is a small amount of discomfort associated with IPL hair removal. It feels like a rubber band snapping on the skin associated with the feeling of heat. Most patients tolerate it without any issues.
Sun avoidance is important after any IPL treatment, and sunscreen should be used on sun exposed treated areas on a daily basis. This is important to reduce pigmentation problems after the treatment (either gain or loss of pigmentation of the treated area). Although uncommon, any blisters or scabs resulting from laser hair removal should not be scratched or picked. This can result in permanent scarring (very rare) if these blisters or scabs become irritated or infected. The skin may appear mildly red and swollen after treatment and soothing gel can be used for any skin irritation from laser treatment.
Every IPL Laser patient is issued with an IPL Rewards Card where your 6th session is ½ price and 12th session is FREE. Conditions apply.
